The Department of Nursing Services is the cornerstone of clinical care delivery in Sokoto State. We are entrusted with regulating nursing and midwifery practices, ensuring the highest standards of patient care, and managing the deployment, training, and welfare of all nursing personnel across state-owned health facilities. Our commitment is to foster a compassionate, highly skilled, and professional nursing workforce that stands at the frontline, meeting the dynamic healthcare needs of our communities with excellence and empathy.

Operational Units

Nursing Administration & Personnel

This unit handles the day-to-day administrative functions for the state’s nursing workforce, including strategic postings, shift management frameworks, leave administration, and staff welfare programs to ensure optimal staffing levels at all facilities.

Dedicated to patient safety, this team monitors ward management, enforces clinical nursing protocols, and oversees infection control measures to guarantee that every patient receives safe, standardized, and dignified care.

Works in close collaboration with the State College of Nursing Sciences and other educational bodies. This unit coordinates student clinical postings, internship programs, and manages the continuous education requirements needed for license renewals.

A specialized division focused entirely on safe motherhood. This unit coordinates midwifery practices, oversees labor and maternity wards, and implements targeted interventions to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates.
