Department of Pharmaceutical Services

The Department of Pharmaceutical Services is mandated to ensure the continuous availability, accessibility, and affordability of safe, efficacious, and quality-assured medicines across Sokoto State. We oversee the entire pharmaceutical supply chain—from strategic procurement and secure warehousing to distribution and rational use within all state-owned health facilities. Beyond supply logistics, our department serves as a strict regulatory body, monitoring pharmaceutical practices and retail medicine vendors to safeguard the public against counterfeit and substandard drugs.

Pharmaceutical Inspectorate and Task Force Unit

Serve to safeguard public health by enforcing compliance with safety, quality, and distribution standards across the pharmaceutical supply chain.

Acts as the clinical safety and knowledge hub, providing accurate, synthesized drug information to clinicians, pharmacists, and patients.

Serve as the central coordinating unit for public health supply management. The unit is responsible for collecting, collating, and analysing logistics management information system (LMIS) data to prevent drug stock-out and expiry. It also tracks, manages, and supervises the delivery of health commodities to the last mile, as well as oversees supply chain operations to increase efficiency and reduce redundancies across different health programs
