On 29th May 2026, the Sokoto Polio Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) was officially commissioned by the Hon. Commissioner of Health, Dr. Faruk Abubakar Wurno as part of the nationwide commissioning of key health sector investments under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The event marked a significant milestone in strengthening polio eradication efforts and enhancing disease surveillance, coordination, and response mechanisms in Sokoto State.
