HEALTH COMMISSIONER INSPECTS CONSTRUCTION OF NEW KARAYE PHC, NEWLY UPGRADED GAGI GENERAL HOSPITAL

The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Sokoto State, Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar, has inspected the construction of the New Karaye Primary Health Centre (PHC) and the newly upgraded Gagi General Hospital, as part of efforts to ensure quality, compliance with approved specifications and timely completion of healthcare infrastructure projects across the state.

During the inspection visit to the New Karaye Primary Health Centre, the Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the quality of materials used for the construction of the facility.

 He, however, directed the contractor to make some minor adjustments to certain aspects of the project to ensure that the facility conforms with global standards and approved specifications.
At the newly upgraded Gagi General Hospital,

Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar acknowledged the implementation of adjustments he had directed during his previous visit to the hospital.

The Commissioner also noted with satisfaction the retention and expansion of the structural columns, pointing out that the number had been increased from the initial 65 columns to 120 columns, in line with recommendations made during his previous inspection.

Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar expressed satisfaction with the quality and progress of work at the hospital, as well as the timely completion of the project. He reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that healthcare infrastructure across the state meets required standards and provides a conducive environment for effective healthcare delivery.

Responding, the contractor handling the construction of Gagi General Hospital, Hon. Halidu Usman, thanked the Honourable Commissioner for the unscheduled inspection visit, describing it as encouraging and a demonstration of the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring quality project delivery.

Hon. Halidu Usman assured the Commissioner of his determination to effect the necessary corrections and continue the work in accordance with approved specifications and standards.

The Honourable Commissioner was accompanied during the inspection by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Alh. Ibrahim Haliru Dingyadi, mni, and Directors of the Ministry.
