
HONOURABLE COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH COMMENDS UK-BASED NIGERIAN DOCTORS FOR SUPPORTING MATERNAL HEALTH TRAINING IN SOKOTO
The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Sokoto State, Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar, has commended the Faculty members of the Medical Association of Nigerians in Great Britain (MANSAG) for their dedication and commitment in conducting a three-day capacity-building training on the prevention of maternal mortality and clinical debriefing for healthcare workers in Sokoto State.
The Commissioner gave the commendation while receiving the visiting medical team in his office at the Ministry for Health following the successful completion of the training programme.
Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar expressed profound appreciation to the medical team for their commitment, professionalism and sacrifice in travelling to Sokoto to strengthen the capacity of healthcare professionals.
He noted that their willingness to serve despite security misconceptions about Sokoto State demonstrates their patriotism and determination to improve maternal and child health outcomes.
He further stated that the State Government remains committed to reducing maternal and neonatal mortality through strategic partnerships, continuous capacity building and the adoption of best clinical practices across health facilities.
Speaking on behalf of the visiting team, Dr. Kabiru Suleman Musa thanked the Honourable Commissioner and the Ministry for Health for the warm reception and the excellent support provided throughout the three-day training programme.
He commended the careful selection of participants, describing them as highly committed professionals whose active participation greatly enriched the training sessions.
Also speaking, Dr. Esther Durogbola expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the programme, highlighting a practical demonstration by one of the participants at her residence as evidence of the knowledge and skills acquired during the training.
In his closing remarks, the Honourable Commissioner presented souvenirs of appreciation to each member of the visiting medical team in recognition of their invaluable contribution to strengthening maternal healthcare services in Sokoto State.
The event was attended by the Honourable Special Adviser on the Malaria Agency Dr Abdulrahman NamadIna, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry for Health, Alhaji Ibrahim Haliru Dingyadi, mni, the Secretary of the Malaria Agency, Hajiya Luba Hassan, the Executive Director of the Health Services Management Board, Dr. Bello Abubakar Attahiru, the Director of Public Health, Dr. Abdulganiyu Yusuf, the Director of Medical Services, Dr. Adamu Abubakar, and other senior management staff of the Ministry.
