PRESS RELEASE: COMMISSIONER FOR HEALTH CONDUCTS SUPERVISORY VISIT TO COLLEGE OF NURSING SCIENCES, TAMBUWAL AND GENERAL HOSPITALS IN TAMBUWAL, DOGON DAJI AND YABO

The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Sokoto State, Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Ibrahim Haliru Dingyadi, mni, and Directors of the Ministry, has undertaken a supervisory visit to the College of Nursing Sciences, Tambuwal, as well as General Hospitals in Tambuwal, Dogon Daji and Yabo.

During the visit to the College of Nursing Sciences, Tambuwal, the Commissioner met with the Provost of the College, Hajiya Safiya Ibrahim, management staff and other personnel of the institution. The visit provided an opportunity for the Commissioner to assess the academic and administrative activities of the college.

Addressing the management and staff, Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar expressed concern over the recent low performance of students in examinations and stressed the need for greater commitment, dedication and punctuality among staff members to improve academic outcomes and maintain the institution’s standards.

The Commissioner also embarked on a tour of facilities within the college and held an interactive session with students. During the engagement, students presented some of the challenges affecting their learning environment. In response, the Commissioner assured them of the Sokoto State Government’s commitment to addressing the identified issues and improving conditions within the institution.

Earlier in her welcome remarks, the Provost of the College, Hajiya Safiya Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner and his entourage for the visit, describing it as a demonstration of the Ministry’s commitment to the development and progress of the college.
The supervisory visit was also attended by the Chairman of Tambuwal Local Government Council, Honourable Abba Shehu Tambuwal, who accompanied the Commissioner during visits to the College of Nursing Sciences and General Hospital, Tambuwal.

As part of the exercise, the Commissioner proceeded to General Hospitals in Tambuwal, Dogon Daji and Yabo, where he inspected facilities and interacted with healthcare personnel. He expressed satisfaction with the overall condition of the hospitals, particularly Yabo General Hospital, where he commended the quality of work executed by contractors handling the recent renovation of the facility.

Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar reiterated the commitment of the administration of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Aliyu, FCNA, to strengthening healthcare service delivery across the state through continuous monitoring, improved infrastructure and enhanced workforce performance.
