
SOKOTO GOVERNMENT REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO IMPROVING MATERNAL, NEWBORN AND CHILD HEALTH
Sokoto Ministry of Health Participates in Joint States Stakeholders Meeting
The Sokoto State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening interventions aimed at improving maternal, newborn and child health outcomes in the state.
The commitment was expressed at the Joint States Stakeholders Meeting attended by the Sokoto State Ministry of Health alongside stakeholders from other participating states, including Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Taraba and Zamfara States.
Representing the Honorable Commissioner of Health, Sokoto State, the Ministry commended the organisers and development partners for convening the meeting, describing it as an important platform for states to share experiences, review progress, identify challenges and strengthen collaboration towards achieving better health outcomes for mothers and children.
The Sokoto State Government emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration between government, development partners, implementing organisations and other relevant stakeholders in addressing barriers to access and utilisation of essential maternal, newborn and child health services.
The government further assured participants of its continued support for interventions that promote equitable access to quality healthcare services, particularly for women, newborns and children in underserved communities.
The Honorable Commissioner was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health Alh Ibrahim Haliru Dingyadi mni , Executive Secretary SSPHDA Dr Bilyaminu Yari Sifawa and Directors of the Ministry of Health.
The meeting, supported by New Incentives – All Babies Are Equal (ABAE), provided an opportunity for participating states to deliberate on key issues affecting maternal, newborn and child health interventions, share lessons learned and strengthen coordination for improved programme implementation.
The Sokoto State Ministry of Health reiterated the state’s readiness to collaborate with partners and neighbouring states in advancing evidence-based interventions that will contribute to reducing preventable maternal and child deaths and improving the overall health and wellbeing of the people of Sokoto State.
