SOKOTO HEALTH MINISTRY HOLDS TWO-DAY HEALTH PARTNERS’ COORDINATION MEETING

The Sokoto State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with UNICEF and other implementing partners, has commenced a two-day Health Partners’ Coordination Meeting aimed at reviewing health-sector activities and strengthening coordination among partners supporting health and health-related programmes in the state.

The meeting, which is being held at Sokoto Guest Inn Limited, Sokoto, from Tuesday 22nd to Wednesday 23rd September 2026, was declared open by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Sokoto State, Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar.

Declaring the meeting open, the Commissioner underscored the importance of effective coordination between the Ministry of Health, health agencies and development partners in ensuring that interventions are properly aligned with the health priorities of the state.

In his welcome remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Sokoto State, Alh. Ibrahim Haliru Dingyadi, mni, welcomed the participating partners and stakeholders, appreciating their continued support to the health sector. He emphasized the importance of collaboration, coordination and regular review of interventions to enhance their impact on healthcare delivery across the state.

The meeting subsequently proceeded with presentations by the participating partners, who are expected to brief stakeholders on their respective activities and areas of support to the state.

According to the Ministry, the meeting is designed to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to review ongoing and completed partner-supported activities, discuss issues affecting the health sector and strengthen coordination of interventions across the state.

The meeting was attended by heads of health agencies, directors from the Ministry of Health and other health agencies, development partners, implementing partners and other key stakeholders in the health sector.

The Ministry expressed its appreciation to UNICEF and other partners for their continued collaboration and support towards strengthening healthcare delivery in Sokoto State.
