SOKOTO STATE CONCLUDES 2026 HEALTH SECTOR JOINT ANNUAL REVIEW WITH COMMITMENT TO IMPROVED HEALTHCARE DELIVERY

The Sokoto State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with UNICEF, has successfully concluded the 2026 Health Sector Joint Annual Review (JAR)/Quarterly Review Meeting, reaffirming the commitment of the State Government and its partners to strengthening healthcare service delivery across Sokoto State.

The second and final day of the review featured presentations of the 2026 Annual Work Plans by the various health agencies in the state. The presentations provided participants with the opportunity to review planned activities, exchange ideas, and make valuable inputs aimed at enhancing coordination, efficiency, and effective implementation of health programmes.

The meeting was attended by heads of health agencies, development partners, senior government officials, and other key stakeholders, who actively participated in discussions and offered constructive recommendations for achieving the state’s health sector priorities.

The Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Faruk Umar Abubakar, was represented at the closing ceremony by the Special Adviser on the Sokoto State Malaria Elimination Agency (SOSMEA), Dr. Abdulrahman Namadina.

Delivering the closing remarks on behalf of the Honourable Commissioner, Dr. Namadina expressed appreciation to the various health agencies for their insightful presentations, describing the discussions as productive and essential to the continued improvement of healthcare service delivery in the state.

He also commended the heads of health agencies, development partners, and all participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions throughout the two-day review meeting.

He noted that the recommendations and resolutions reached during the review would serve as a guide for strengthening collaboration, improving coordination, and enhancing the implementation of health programmes across Sokoto State.

Dr. Namadina reaffirmed the commitment of the Sokoto State Government under the leadership of Governor Dr. Ahmed Aliyu, FCNA, to supporting policies and initiatives that will improve access to quality healthcare and deliver better health outcomes for the people of the state.

The two-day review meeting provided an important platform for assessing sector performance, reviewing annual work plans, identifying implementation bottlenecks, and agreeing on strategic priorities for achieving a more resilient and responsive health system in Sokoto State.
